Thanks to everyone who worked so hard preparing for our two gigs – a joint choir concert in Waterloo and our ‘Cambaret’ in the crypt night.
We’ve performed above ground at St Giles’ Church many times – but the last time we were in St Giles’ Crypt was in 2011 when the choir first started rehearsing. Attendance averaged around five people on a Tuesday night back then – how times have changed! For this gig, there was standing room only for our audience – but no one seemed to mind. The acoustics down there suit a choir so well and as for our solo and group acts – what an amazing sound. From folk bands to Elvis to opera singers – our choir contains so many varied and talented musicians, some of whom were performing for the first time in their lives. There will be more cabaret nights to come!
After a fabulous wine and cheese night, we ended term by joining with some of our other local choirs in Waterloo for a joint choir concert. It’s always fun seeing what other choirs are up to and it was a great way to end our term.
Summer term starts on Tuesday 30th of April and we are already putting gigs in the diary. Have a wonderful holiday and see you for more music-making at choir soon!
